Info: The CANON: LC-62T, also known as the Canon Cardquartz LC-62T,
is an interesting Japanese pocket calculator from around 1979.
What makes it unusual is that it combines normal calculator functions with time-related functions and a stopwatch/timer,
which was quite advanced for such a compact device at the end of the 1970s.The LC-62T is very slim, making it closer to a credit-card-style calculator than a conventional pocket calculator. The ‘T’ in LC-62T is significant.
While CANON also produced the LC-62 calculator, the LC-62T belongs to CANON's calculator models incorporating time functions.
This allowed the little machine to serve both as a calculator and as a time-measuring device. The LC-62T appeared during an interesting period in calculator history.
By the late 1970s, LCD technology and lithium batteries had made it possible to produce calculators that were dramatically thinner and more energy-efficient than the LED calculators of only a few years earlier.
CANON took advantage of this to produce its very thin Cardquartz series.
