CANON_docu: ZB840493G1 (Instr.) L162A

German operating manual. It explains the machine’s controls, technical specifications and practical use through detailed examples showing each keystroke and the resulting display. The L162A offers 16-digit calculation capacity, two independent calculating memories and a constant register. It performs addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including chained calculations, repeated operations with constants, squaring and higher powers. Decimal entry is floating, while results use a selectable fixed decimal position. Three rounding settings allow rounding up, conventional rounding or truncation. A substantial part of the manual explains the memory functions. These can accumulate products and quotients, retain intermediate values, produce subtotals and grand totals, and help calculate weighted average prices. Other controls provide entry correction, digit deletion, recall or exchange of operands, and separate clearing of the memories. Indicators show negative values, occupied memories and overflow conditions. The practical examples cover: - Departmental sales percentages and proportional budget allocation, - Purchase costs, selling prices, markups and profits, - Annual loan repayments and depreciation, - Square roots calculated by successive approximation, - Vehicle braking distances and the equivalent resistance of parallel resistors. The calculator has a carrying handle, a ten-key keyboard with reed contacts, automatic clearing when switched on, and protection against overflow and simultaneous key presses. The final page lists Canon’s international offices and regional distributors.
